10 Years as a Certified B Corporation®: A Decade of Turning Reuse Into Impact

Every reuse tells a story.

For the past decade, Fill it Forward has been helping organizations and individuals turn simple acts of reuse into measurable impact for people and the planet.

In 2026, we’re proud to celebrate 10 years as a Certified B Corporation®—a milestone that reflects our ongoing commitment to using business as a force for good and proving that small actions can create lasting change.

From the beginning, Fill it Forward has been grounded in a simple mission: inspiring the world to reuse. We believe that reuse is a simple act of generosity that helps people and the planet. Certification by B Lab helped formalize that commitment, creating a framework that helps us measure, strengthen, and scale our impact over time.

What Being a B Corp Means

Becoming a B Corp wasn’t about earning a badge. It was about holding ourselves accountable to the impact we want to create.

B Corp Certification is a rigorous, third-party process administered by B Lab that evaluates companies across five key areas: governance, workers, community, environment, and customers. The assessment is supported by an independent standards advisory council, helping ensure credibility, accountability, and transparency.

These five areas provide a comprehensive framework for understanding how a business creates value:

  • Governance – Mission, ethics, and transparent decision-making
  • Workers – Employee well-being, career development, and financial security
  • Community – Economic impact, civic engagement, and supply chain
  • Environment – Responsible practices across operations and supply chains
  • Customers – Product quality, ethical business practices, and services designed to create positive impact

For Fill it Forward, this framework aligns closely with how we’ve always approached our work. Impact is embedded throughout our products, technology, partnerships, team culture, and the way we measure and communicate results.

B Corp Certification also requires recertification every three years, ensuring companies continue to improve and evolve over time rather than treating sustainability and social responsibility as a one-time achievement.

Measuring What Matters

For Fill it Forward, B Corp Certification has always been more than a designation. It’s a framework that helps us measure, strengthen, and scale our impact over time.

To become certified, companies must achieve a minimum B Impact Assessment score of 80 points. The average business scores approximately 50.9.

Today, Fill it Forward has achieved a B Impact Score of 131.9, reflecting our commitment to creating positive outcomes for people and the planet.

Our certification also recognizes two Impact Business Models:

Designed to Give – Helping unlock charitable giving through everyday acts of reuse.

Resource Conservation & Environmental Education – Reducing waste while helping organizations and individuals better understand and measure their impact.

These designations recognize that impact isn’t simply something we support. It’s intentionally built into how our business operates.

Celebrating A Decade of Impact

Over the past 10 years, Fill it Forward has grown from a simple idea into a global movement that connects everyday reuse with measurable impact.

Through reusable products, interactive technology, and charitable giving, we’ve helped more than 1,500 organizations make reuse engaging, rewarding, and meaningful.

Together, our community of partners and reusers have diverted more than 10 million single-use items from oceans and landfills and helped unlock more than $2.2 million in charitable donations worldwide.

As we’ve grown, our commitment to transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement has grown with us—guided in part by our ongoing B Corp journey.

Today, that commitment represents more than a certification. It’s a decade of proving that every reuse can create lasting impact.

“As Fill it Forward has grown, so have the expectations we set for ourselves. The B Corp certification process has challenged us to continuously improve, strengthen our practices, and better measure the impact we’re creating. Many of the standards that shape our organization today were introduced or strengthened through our commitment to this process.”

Looking Ahead

While a lot has changed over the past decade, our mission remains the same: inspiring the world to reuse.

As Fill it Forward continues to grow globally, we’re focused on ensuring that growth strengthens our impact. Recent initiatives include the introduction of pulp-based packaging for Cupanion Bottles to help reduce reliance on single-use plastics. We have also increased the sustainability of the Cupanion Bottle through the use of Tritan Renew, which contains 50% recycled material, and introduced our newest product, the Cupanion Swivel, made with 90% recycled stainless steel.

We’re also continuing to invest in technology. Enhancements to the Reuse365 platform and expanded partner resources are helping organizations of all sizes launch, manage, and scale successful reuse programs.

The next chapter is about reaching more people, supporting more communities, and helping more organizations turn sustainability goals into measurable action.

Because when millions of people take small actions together, those actions add up to something much bigger.

For the past 10 years, we’ve helped turn everyday acts of reuse into measurable impact. The next decade is about helping even more people, organizations, and communities do the same.
