The Westin Bayshore, Vancouver: Leading the Charge in Sustainable Hospitality

Nestled along Vancouver’s breathtaking waterfront, The Westin Bayshore, Vancouver, has long been recognized for luxury, wellness, and outstanding guest experiences. But beyond its serene surroundings and impeccable service, the hotel is making waves in sustainability, proving that responsible travel and environmental stewardship go hand in hand.

In a bold move towards sustainability, The Westin Bayshore eliminated all single-use plastic water bottles from its property in 2024. The hotel partnered with Fill it Forward to introduce a seamless and impactful transition—offering reusable bottles and strategically placed refill stations to ensure guests can stay hydrated without waste. These water refill stations can be found on every guestroom floor and in meeting spaces, making it easier than ever to embrace eco-friendly travel.

By promoting Vancouver’s pristine tap water sourced from the surrounding mountains, The Westin Bayshore provides a refreshing alternative to single-use bottled water while showcasing the city’s commitment to sustainability. For guests who may have left their bottle at home, Fill it Forward reusable bottles are available for purchase, allowing them to join in on this meaningful initiative.

The impact of this program extends far beyond waste reduction. Every time guests refill their bottles and scan them using the Fill it Forward app, they unlock donations to giving projects around the world while also tracking their positive environmental impact. In just six months, the hotel has prevented thousands of single-use plastic bottles from ending up in landfills while supporting clean water initiatives, nutrition programs, and reforestation efforts in communities in need.

“At The Westin Bayshore, Vancouver, sustainability and giving back are at the core of our values. Through the Fill it Forward program, we’ve significantly reduced single-use plastics while also contributing to meaningful charitable initiatives. This program not only aligns with our commitment to reducing the hotel’s environmental impact but also engages our guests and associates in a shared mission for positive change. Seeing the collective impact we’ve made has been incredibly rewarding. We’re proud to be part of a program that makes sustainability both accessible and impactful.”
