Project: American Longleaf Pine Ecosystem
The Arbor Day Foundation is leading a massive conservation effort to restore the longleaf pine ecosystem, home to nearly 600 species like the red-cockaded woodpecker and gopher tortoise. Covering just 3% of its original range, this ecosystem is critical for biodiversity and carbon storage. Through partnerships and providing free seedlings to landowners, the foundation has planted 15 million longleaf pines, helping to bring this vital forest back, supporting wildlife, and combating climate change for future generations.
The Arbor Day Foundation is a nonprofit organization using reforestation and urban forestry to solve issues of climate change, community, and biodiversity.
