Project: Restoring Forests & Water Systems
This reforestation project in the Andes is part of a multi-year initiative to restore 1 million hectares of Polylepis ecosystems, crucial to South America’s water system, including the Amazon basin. These forests are critical for providing clean drinking water and irrigation for crops in local communities. By restoring these ecosystems, they connect the high Andes to the Amazon River Basin, while supporting the invaluable local people who safeguard these natural landscapes.
